Walter Bounds, MD
Dr. Walter Bounds graduated from LSUHSC in Shreveport in 1982. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine in 1990 and completed a residency in Hematology/Oncology in 1993. Dr. Bounds is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He is happily married to his wife, Michelenne and enjoys traveling and cycling.
Brian Caskey, MD
Dr. Brian Caskey received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in 1982. He attended LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport and graduated in 1986. He competed his residency in Internal Medicine in 1989 and is Board Certified. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. While working in the Emergency Department at Christus Schumpert St. Mary he was awarded Physician of the Year. Dr. Caskey was also named Preceptor of the Year by LSUMC Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Caskey and his wife, Lori, have been married for 32 years and have two children, Seth and Lauren, and one grandchild. In his free time, Dr. Caskey enjoys playing the trombone, water sports, gardening, and running.
Esther Lawson, MD
Dr. Lawson graduated from Northwestern State University with a BS in Nursing in 1994. She worked as an RN until 1999. In 2003, she graduated from the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. Dr. Lawson served as Chief Resident in Family Medicine at LSU and completed her residency there in 2006.
Dr. Lawson worked in Family Medicine, Emergency Room, and Hospital in Coushatta, LA for six years before moving to Shreveport to join Velocity Care. She is board certified in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine.
She has two children, Sarah and Adam. In her spare time, Dr. Lawson enjoys knitting, running, and hiking.
Ken Miller, MD
Dr. Ken Miller joined the Velocity Care family of physicians in May of 2011. He has practiced Emergency Medicine for the past 18 years. He current serves as the Medical Director and Lab Director for Velocity Care.
Dr. Miller graduated from the University of Louisiana-Monroe with degrees in both Pre-Medicine and Medical Technology. In 1990, he graduated from the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport.
Dr. Miller served as Chief Resident in Emergency Medicine at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, and completed his residency program there in 1993. He joined the faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine at LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport and also began practicing Emergency Medicine at Christus Schumpert Health System. Since 1995, Dr. Miller has worked in the Emergency Departments at Christus Schumpert St. Mary Place and Highland Hospital.
Dr. Miller is from Monroe, Louisiana. He is married with three children. He enjoys his family and friends, college football, hunting, cooking and travel.

Michelle Burgoyne, PA-C
Michelle Burgoyne graduated from the LSUHSC PA program in 2008. Michelle received a BS degree in Medical Technology from the University of Maine in 1988. In 2008, she was awarded the Compassionate Care Giver Award from the LSUHSC PA Program. Michelle is married and has three children, Eli, Iris, and Abraham. In her free time, she enjoys dressage competition with her horse, Winterstern. Michelle also enjoys cooking, food, wine, and traveling.
Rebecca Clawson, MAT, PA-C
Rebecca Clawson graduated from the LSUHSC PA program in 2011.She is NCCPA certified. Rebecca serves as co-editor of the Cardiology Consult column in Clinician Reviews. In addition to teaching in the PA program at LSUHSC, she is involved in PA advocacy at the local, state, and national levels. Rebecca is married with two children and enjoys cooking, reading, and working out.
Carol Forrest, PA-C
Carol Forrest earned a Bachelors degree in French in 1980, her PA degree in 1989 and a Masters in Science in Emergency Medicine in 1996. She is NCCPA certified. Carol was awarded the Freedom award for her humanitarian work in Somalia. She has eight cats, two dogs, and enjoys traveling, genealogy. reading, water activities, and the beach.
Ericka Hufford, PA-C
Ericka Hufford earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Louisiana in Monroe in 2012. She then earned a Masters in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Louisiana in Monroe in 2013. In 2016, she graduated from the LSUHSC PA Program in Shreveport with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. After completing her preceptorship at Velocity Care she was hired on as a Physician Assistant. Ericka is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Louisiana Academy of Physician Assistants. In her free time, Ericka enjoys exercising, boxing, fishing, amusement parks, and reading.
John Messier, PA-C
John Messier graduated from the LSUHSC PA program in 2000. He then earned a Masters in Family Practice. Prior to PA school, he worked as a Respiratory Therapist after graduating from LSUHSC Cardiopulmonary program in 1994. As a PA he practices 15 years in Family Practice, on year in hospital-based internal medicine, and he has 10 years of Emergency Medicine/Urgent Care experience. John is also a combat veteran who served as a Captain in the Louisiana Army National Guard, including a tour in Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan and Task Force Katrina. John is married to his wife, Shanel, of ten years and has four children; Bailey, Kaylyn, Marshall, and Jordyn.

Celia Boswell, FNP
Kelly Toups, FNP
Kelly obtained her BS degree in nursing from Northwestern State University in 1998. She then went on to pursue her Master's in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2003. She is from Shreveport and has practiced family medicine in South Shreveport for the past 15 years. Kelly worked weekends for Velocity Care for a year and a half and then made the decision to transfer to full-time when her private practice closed. Kelly is ANCC certified. She is married with two daughters and spends her free time at her daughter's cheer competitions.
Nancy Pittman, FNP
Nancy Pittman joined Velocity Care in March of 2018. Nancy is a 2013 Honors graduate of Mississippi University for Women. She is AANP certified. Nancy was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau and is an active part of the Louisiana Nurses Association as well as the Mississippi Nurses Association. In her free time she enjoys outdoor activities, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Lisa Woods, CCRN, MSN, FNP, AG-ACNP
Lisa Woods earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from LSUS in 2000. In 2003, she completed her BSN from Northwestern State University. Lisa graduated from the University of South Alabama with her Master of Science in Nursing, AG-ACNP, and FNP in 2014. Lisa is board certified as a Critical Care RN, Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and a Family Nurse Practitioner. She was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. In her free time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her three children, Connor, 12, Ava, 10, and Emma, 8. She loves to read and spend time at the lake or beach.
